Terms of Service

Langoust is a language-learning app. By using the app, you agree to use it for lawful, personal learning purposes and not to misuse, disrupt, or attempt to reverse engineer the service.

The app may generate language explanations, examples, and practice material. These outputs can be imperfect, so you should treat them as learning assistance rather than professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.

You remain responsible for the content you enter. Do not submit content you do not have the right to use, and avoid entering sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your learning context.

Subscriptions

Paid plans (Plus, Pro) are monthly subscriptions billed in euros. Prices shown are the final amount charged; no VAT is added (see the Legal notice). They renew automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Billing → Manage subscription; your plan then stays active until the end of the period already paid, and no further payment is taken. Switching between plans is prorated: when you upgrade you pay only the difference for the remainder of the period, and when you downgrade the difference is credited against your next invoice.

Right of withdrawal (subscriptions): if you are a consumer in the European Union, you may withdraw within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason, by emailing us or by using the model withdrawal form of EU consumer law (Annex I(B) of Directive 2011/83/EU, as implemented in your country of residence). As you expressly request that the service begin immediately when you subscribe, an amount proportional to the service already provided at the time you inform us of your withdrawal will be retained, and the remainder refunded.

One-time purchases

Credit top-ups, streak-freeze refills and cosmetic items are one-time purchases in euros (final price, no VAT added), tied to your account. Credit top-ups are added to your usage allowance and do not expire at the end of a billing period — unused top-up credits stay on your account until you use them. Streak-freeze refills credit the full pack you purchase and can raise your balance above the 15-freeze cap that applies to earned freezes. Cosmetic items remain available on the account after delivery. These are digital content delivered immediately: by paying, you expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that you thereby lose your 14-day right of withdrawal (art. 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU, as implemented in your country of residence). Once delivered, these purchases are therefore not refundable, except where the item proves defective or as otherwise required by law.

Deleting your account permanently deletes your data and forfeits unused credits, streak freezes and cosmetic items bought on it; they are not transferable or redeemable for money.

Billing documents & disputes

Receipts and invoices are issued through our payment provider, Stripe, and sent to your account email after each payment. If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact us first — most issues are resolved within a few days. These terms are governed by Swiss law; if you are a consumer in the European Union, this does not deprive you of the mandatory protections of your country of residence, and you may bring claims before the courts of that country or contact your local consumer-protection authority (see our Legal notice).

We may update or discontinue parts of the service as the product evolves. If these terms materially change, we will update the version shown here. See also our Legal notice and Privacy Policy.
